Since we launched in 2016, Awake Mzansi! has relied on ad hoc donations from the odd sponsor, friends and family. We rely on this sponsorship to boost a few really important posts per month and also pay our Community Manager for their time. In the ramp-up to general or local elections we do a fund-raising drive to help us launch ads that are designed to dispel the fake narratives and various political party “fake news” claims.
Did you know that since 2016, we have designed and launched 391 Facebook ads and spent R405,000 on Facebook advertising? The majority of these ads run in the lead up to local or general elections.
90% of your donation will be spent on ad budgets on Facebook & Instagram.
10% of your donation will be used to pay our Community Manager and other costs and fees.
